Jaimoe's Jasssz Band.Jaimoe is typically associated with a band regarded as one of the seminal purveyors of so-called Southern rock. You might have heard of them, The Allman Brothers Band. Yet, the drummer who has rocked the South for over three decades now finds himself residing in Connecticut, where he’s known locally for jazz and blues. Last fall, he sat in with saxophonist Ravi Coltrane (son of John), during the Hartford International Jazz Festival for an inspired rendition of Miles Davis' "All Blues." Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band will be gracing StageOne with interpretations of blues, funk and jazz classics. Their repertoire ranges from "Night in Tunisia" to "Let the Good Times Roll." They might even pull out an old Allman’s hit like "Blue Sky" or a Herbie Hancock favorite like "Cantaloupe Island." 7:30 at the Fairfield Theatre Company, 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield. Dave Attell. Attell was named one of the 25 Funniest People in America by Entertainment Weekly Magazine. His caustic wit, rapid-fire delivery and his choice of material that can best be described as "very adult," has earned him the reputation as a "comic's comic." But if you ask Attell, he'd say, "I'm just trying to get some laughs and sell some drinks." In 2001, Attell created and hosted the hit series, "Insomniac with Dave Attell" for Comedy Central. The New York Times called the show, "a doubly rare beast, a comedy without rancor and a travel show about the virtues of the American underdog." Jon Stewart calls him “the funniest man in New York." Attell shines as a club comic. His ability to take some of the shock value out of sex and drugs material, and replace it with something a little more abstract, lifts him above comics mining the same subjects. 8:00 at The Klein Memorial Auditorium, Brigeport. Capitol Steps . Twenty five years ago, the Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom "Don't quit your day job!", and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. If you're thinking about missing this show, think again, because as CNN’s Larry King said "They're the best.
