Jaimoe's Jasssz Band.Jaimoe is typically associated with a band regarded as one of the seminal purveyors of so-called Southern rock. You might have heard of them, The Allman Brothers Band. Yet, the drummer who has rocked the South for over three decades now finds himself residing in Connecticut, where he’s known locally for jazz and blues. Last fall, he sat in with saxophonist Ravi Coltrane (son of John), during the Hartford International Jazz Festival for an inspired rendition of Miles Davis' "All Blues." Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band will be gracing StageOne with interpretations of blues, funk and jazz classics. Their repertoire ranges from "Night in Tunisia" to "Let the Good Times Roll." Shelby Lynne. Grammy winner for Best New Artist (2001), Lynne has actually been making music, and collecting fans, since 1988. Deeply steeped in rock 'n' roll history, Lynne’s music pulls equally from Al Green, Hank Williams, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley and Tammy Wynette. Called a “torchy pop singer” by The New York Times, with an “earthy, passionate voice, Shelby Lynne is “the next major interpretive singer in the line of Annie Lennox and k.d. Rod Piazza & Sugar Blue. Grammy winning harmonica virtuoso Sugar Blue has played and recorded with Willie Dixon, Frank Zappa, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones. "One of the foremost harmonica blowers in all of Modern Blues." -Rolling Stone Magazine. Handy Award winner Rod Piazza is a blues veteran with creds second to none. In 1967 he fronted the legendary Dirty Blues Band. Summer Jazz Workshops. 16th Annual Young Artists Summer Jazz Workshops scheduled at UConn Stamford beginning July 21 and continuing through August 1,an intensive two-week performance seminar for advanced high school and middle school musicians specializing in trumpet, trombone, saxophone, guitar, piano, bass and drums. To participate in the Summer Jazz Workshops, all young musicians must register pending approval of Workshop administrators, unless they have attended a previous Workshop. Deadline for registering is Friday, July 18. The registration form and other information are available at www.syap.org and must be mailed with a tuition check.

B. B. King. When the King of the Blues steps onto The Klein stage, with his venerable guitar Lucille at his helm, an unforgettable night of blues will commence and forever be remembered. B.B. King is universally recognized as the leading exponent of modern blues. It has been estimated that blues great B.B. King has played more than 10,000 shows in a career spanning nearly 60 years. His archive of honors and achievements is enormous.
